Hi all! My name is Elena Hilton and I’m one of the associate producers for “The Bite” Entertainment News Show. I consider myself very fortunate to be a part of a team that has meetings where talking about One Direction or Scandal is not only encouraged, it’s essential.
I got involved with ChomPics my junior year and my only regret is not doing it sooner. When I saw the application to help produce an entertainment news show, I knew I had to apply. I remember being so intimidated at our first meeting—I knew absolutely no one and I had no idea how to produce anything, let alone a television show. While my editing skills are still on par with a first grader, I’m happy to say this past year I’ve learned so much from my team members at “The Bite” about producing a show. The hours can be long and unpredictable, but there is no better preparation for the “real world.”
My responsibilities as an AP involve everything from helping put together scripts, to editing graphics, to helping my reporters film their packages or directing during filming. So far my favorite episode to shoot was our Awards Show special—I loved seeing all the hosts dressed up and talking about their favorite movies of the past year.
Everyone I work with on “The Bite” is incredibly talented, dedicated, ambitious and has taught me so much about what it means to be a part of a team. The opportunity to collaborate with people who love pop culture as much as I do has been such a blast and I’m very grateful for the friendships I’ve made because of it.
This experience has been invaluable to helping me in my journey to begin my career and it’s organizations like ChomPics that remind me how lucky I am to be a Florida Gator.
