A Night with Jan Kasoff: Saturday Night Live Camera Operator

Last night Gator NBS was lucky to have Jan Kasoff come speak to our members aspiring to work in television production. Jan worked for NBC for over 35 years on shows such as The Today Show, Another World, The Doctors, and most prolifically, Saturday Night Live. During his time as a camera operator Kasoff won six primetime Emmys, one of which he brought to show us.

Jan captured our attention by telling us about how SNL got its start and all the crazy things that could go wrong on a live show. He showed clips of the control room to the students and we got to see what the control room of the famous 8H looked like when the show was getting ready to air.

After his talk, Jan was kind enough to let the students ask him questions and take selfies with his Emmy.
