Hey ya’ll. My name is Kelbin Ramirez. I’m a writer for the Chompics Commercial Project, actor for "Off University" and "Pressed," host for the “The Fight 4” podcast and I also host “The Bite” Entertainment News Show…So I’m (practically and happily) a ChomPics slave.

It’s quite funny, at least to me, how I got involved. It was my first semester last year as a transfer and I didn’t know anyone in Gainesville--let alone know anything being offered at my college that would spark my interest.

Then an email from Ostroff came along through the listserv (which at the time I was going to delete because I thought, what’s a listserv???) and it said “TV Production etc…” I thought “WOW a news program is going to start up before I even start the news program through telecom, let me sign up (and man was I wrong, but let me just continue). I did my application, checked off on-screen talent, and got an email back saying I got in after a couple of days. I was excited to say the least. I missed the initial meetings that involved discussing the project, and even the name of it. I felt badly, but once the next meeting came up, I was given a script and had to do a cold-read and get ready in a couple of days for an AUDITION…Confused and realizing that it was going to be a TV SHOW production and not a TV NEWS production was the dumbest and best mistake I could’ve ever done.

Not only has Chompics given me experience in about every aspect of the entertainment/TV/radio industry that I could ever want (or even explore), I’ve made incredible friendships. I’ve been given a lead role, hosting gigs, a crazy packed premiere at the Reitz Union and so many more things that these telecom nerds, a.k.a. my executive producers/amazing friends Connor Jeyoncé Hachey and Ginger Pop Elizabeth Benge have given me the chance to do, and for that I’ll always be eternally grateful. Shout out to Mitch and Joe for always believing in me since Day 1. And without my character, sassy Johnathan, from "Off University," I wouldn’t be where I am today.
